Framing

Timber and steel framing for Class 1 and 10 buildings. AS 1684 covers the bulk of it — bracing, tie-down, span tables.

Overview

Section 6 covers framed construction. Most residential builds in Australia are designed to AS 1684 (timber) or NASH (steel). The deemed-to-satisfy pathway is to follow those standards directly. Section 6 sets out where they apply and what extra requirements the NCC layers on top.

Key Clauses to expand

  • Part 6.1 — Scope and application
